Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The Senior Manager Global Value Proposition Youth and Mass Market (YAMM), is part of the Global Value Propositions team in the Consumer Business Division at MTN. The position is primarily responsible for developing and implementation of Global Value Propositions for the Youth and Mass Market segments (YAMM).

The Senior Manager, Global Value Proposition YAMM will report to the GM, Global Value Proposition. The position will interface with Opco stakeholders, Group Management Service stakeholder and consumer divisional heads (amongst others) in order to ensure effective and efficient operations.

MTN is entering a new phase in its lifecycle where operational and commercial excellence has become critical for success. The urgency for change has become more heightened amidst increased competitive intensity across all markets in which MTN operates. As part of the refreshed strategy for the next 5 years, MTN is embarking on the exciting journey of accelerating the customers and revenue growth moving away from a product centric to a value proposition centric approach to servicing consumers. The Senior Manager must therefore ensure successful delivery in context of:

  • Rapidly changing ICT environment
  • The geographic complexity of MTN’s footprint across Africa and the Middle East
  • Management of youth and mass strategies through segment development & Analytics across all 21 OpCos
  • Driving growth through business intelligence and standardization to maximize business impact
  • Management of customer and supplier expectations
  • Enhance MTN position as a leading network and system provider
  • Constant dynamics and local challenges in the economic, regulatory and legal environments.

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Lead the creation of sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals with emphasis on client experience (internal and external)
  • Ensure effective implementation of sub-divisional strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans and support

Governance

  • Adhoc, operational and tactical meeting
  • Set up / participate in adhoc and operational meetings
  • Participate and provide input into tactical meetings
  • Report at process and functional levelEscalations
  • Escalate issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/customer or cost impacts if not resolved

    Voice & Core Data
  • Assist with the design and optimisation of the segmented, simple and sharp value propositions in Youth and Mass Market
  • Provide guidance to the MTN Unite approach through workgroups to ensure that global design fits 80% of Opcos’ s customer needs;
  • Define and deliver the standardisation (80% global / 20% local) and replication of the global value proposition;
  • Provide inputs to the detailed standardization of the end-to-end process for implementation of a global value proposition;
  • Conduct competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and thoughtful product positioning;
  • Assist in the coordination with other business development professionals in other regions to ensure best practice for the sales engagement process;
  • Promote the adoption of MTN infrastructure, virtualization, cloud, middleware, and storage technologies within the Global telecommunications market;
  • Qualify, establish, and maintain a high awareness of MTN value propositions to all traditional telecommunications customers and partners; and
  • Facilitate and manage reciprocal engagements with partners and customer client teams.Collaboration / Coordination
  • Ensure team’s collaborate with Quality Assurance and Internal Audit teams to perform periodic quality and process audits;
  • Collaborate with other functional heads to enhance key elements of the consumer business model;
  • Collaborate with Group Management Services and Opco leaders to add and / or modify suite of services / support provided and develop standard templates and reports
  • Manage enterprise wide projects and initiatives.

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
  • Post-graduate degree an advantage (preferred)

Experience:

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant work experience in a global / multinational business environment (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role
  • Experience in leading change / transformation (marketing) at an operational level advantageous
  • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices
  • Experience in value proposition creation
